KEY BENEFITS & CHARACTERISTICS

Increases Water Intake
High amounts of protein and sodium stimulate water intake, increase urine volume (efficacy proven by Virbac)(1) and micturition frequency.

Low Struvite RSS (<1)*
The formulation induces urine under-saturated for struvites, with struvite RSS** <1, to promote dissolution of existing struvite crystals and prevent formation of new ones (efficacy proven by Virbac)(1)(2)

Optimizes Urinary pH*
Urinary pH between 6.0 – 6.5 allows to prevent both struvite and oxalate crystals formation.

Phosphorus Binding
Added chitosan, as phosphorus binder, helps reduce bioavailability of phosphorus and decrease its urinary excretion. (efficacy proven by Virbac)(1)

Body Weight Control

Management of primary condition

Dissolution of struvite / Reduction of struvite & oxalate formation (efficacy proven by Virbac)1

Stimulates water intake:
The high dietary protein (44%) and sodium (1.1%) contents stimulate water intake, and help increase urine volume and micturition frequency.

Achieves Low struvite RSS < 1:
The diet formula induces urine under-saturated for struvites. 

Achieves Oxalate RSS < 10:
The diet formula induces urine metastable for oxalates to limit their formation.

Low calcium, phosphorus and magnesium concentration:
The low amounts of dietary Phosphorus (0.7%) and Magnesium (0.08%) help reduce their urinary excretion. Addition of Chitosan, as phosphorus digestive binder, reduces phosphorus bioavailability.

Optimises urine acidification (pH 6.0 – 6.5):
The richness in animal protein (93%) and sulphur-containing amino acids (methionine + cysteine: 1.5%) induces a urinary pH which increases the solubility of struvite uroliths without increasing the risk of oxalate formation.

Addition of Calcium oxalate inhibitor:
Added potassium citrate (0.3%) promotes the formation in the urine of potassium oxalate and calcium citrate, which are both always soluble.

Favours urine dilution:
Added artichoke leave decreases urine Specific Gravity by 30%. (efficacy proven by Virbac)2

 

Management of concurrent conditions

Overweight management

Moderate energy density:
The formula with moderate fat (13.5%), low carbohydrate (23%) and moderate fibre (6.5%) amounts promotes moderate energy density (348 kcal/100g) to reduce calorie intake.

Adapted feeding rations:
The proposed daily rations take into account the usual profile of cats subject to LUTD (neutered, indoor, overweight).

Soft weight loss program is proposed in case of mild overweight.

 

 

Restoration of body composition

  • Lean mass preservation: The high protein content (44%) helps maintain the lean mass. 
  • Fat mass limitation: The low carbohydrate content (23%), and added L-carnitine (540 mg/kg) as fat burner, help limit the deposit of fatty tissue.

High Digestive tolerance:
The addition of Montmorillonite, Lactobacillus, lignocellulose, FOS, and psyllium helps maintain a healthy digestive tract (mucosa, microbiota, transit).

Skin & Coat Support:
The high protein content (44%), especially of animal origin (93%), the richness in sulphur containing amino acids (methionine + cysteine: 1.5%), and the balanced omega-6 (2%) and omega-3 (0.8%) fatty acids help maintain a healthy skin and a shiny coat.

Immune support:
The high protein content (44%), with especially the richness in glutamine (5%), arginine (2.5%) and sulphur amino acids (methionine + cysteine: 1.5%), and added vitamin E (610 mg/kg) help to maintain a healthy immune system.

Healthy renal function:
The high content of protein (44%), of high quality (in vivo apparent protein digestibility coefficient: 89%), contributes to increased water turn over. Chitosan, as digestive phosphorus binder, reduces phosphorus bioavailability.

Low glycemic index:
The HP-LC formulation (protein 44%, carbohydrate 23%) and the low amount of starch (15%) and total sugars (1.4%) help limit the impact of the meal on post prandial blood glucose concentration

Withdrawal of major allergens:
The diet is made without beef, gluten, maize, wheat, soya, egg, fish, and dairy products.
